With the construction of high-speed railway in our country is extending to Midwest heavy hilly and mountainous, filling high embankment is unavoidable. The settlement of high embankment has been the focus of study of experts and scholars. The compression deformation of embankment is part of the settlement of high embankment, but almost little research on this aspect, especially the research on the compression deformation characteristics and compaction coefficient of embankment filling under the mountainous high speed railway embankment is blank,that theoretical research lags evidently behind engineering practice. This text combined the engineering practice of the typical mountainous high speed railway embankment in Guiyang-Guangzhou PDL,used various methods to research the compression deformation characteristics and compaction coefficient of embankment filling in the mountainous high speed railway,including field monitoring, laboratory test, numerical calculation of finite element and theoretical analysis,the main work was as follows:(1) Selecting the typical spot site of the high embankment in Guiyang-Guangzhou PDL, a long-term field monitoring the compression deformation and horizontal deformation of embankment filling was carried out,the site compaction quality of high embankment compaction construction was checked, the test data shows that:while the compaction coefficient of the embankment filling below the bedding was0.95,the horizontal deformation of the embankment filling was in with the mid-line of subgrade, and the average lateral strain of embankment measuremented was less than100με;The cumulative deformation of embankment filling increased continuously with the height of embankment filling,it slowed down when the embankment was completed.(2) The process of filling embankment in layers was simulated by using finite element numerical calculation, the regularities of distribution of the cumulative deformation of embankment filling and the vertical stress with the change of height was analysed; The yield failure law of embankment filling was discussed by using the method of strength reduction.(3) Combinated the laboratory soil tests on coarse particle packing, as the core of the controlling of the long-term effect of embankment settlement deformation, research on optimal choosing compaction parameters of high embankment was cattried out,the concept of "early compaction pressure", test method and the selection principle was put forward, and giving guides for optimal choosing compaction parameters of high embankment in spot site.
