IE (Industrial Engineering) is a comprehensive subject with an organic combination of engineering and management. The practice of industrial development at home and abroad has proved that IE has an irreplaceable role in improving the overall efficiency of an enterprise’s production system and enhancing the market competitiveness of an enterprise’s products.By taking the production line in YW Automobile Welding Plant as the object of study and based on the background of production promotion project of the company, this paper researches the application of IE technology to the YW Automobile Welding Plant from the perspective of production site practice. It studies the improvement of production capacity promotion by taking an utmost use of the resources in the welding plant under the current conditions through site investigation, analysis and test. The optimization work including site logistics, the layout of the station and the actions of welding tongs is completed by employing such IE theoretical technology as operation research, handling analysis, ECRS, etc.Among these optimization schemes, the actions of welding tongs solve the operating efficiency problems by using the economic principle of IE actions and knowledge of mechanics. The optimization scheme of welding plant transfer and layout applies the basic principles of IE transfer and layout to solve such problems as low logistic efficiency, low space utilization rate, uneconomic logistic route between processes occurred in individual in-plant section. The device security activity plan is implemented by setting up special topic groups inside the IE project and calling on all the employees to take part in TPM device security activities to improve the operational availability of the device and reduce the maintenance cost. The on-site6S activity plan is carried out by implementing6S management activities, keeping the production site clean and tidy and regionalizing functions to help the employees gradually develop good working habits.During the process of the project, the whole plant imports6s management, TPM device security activities, comprehensively promotes the overall ideology of the employees and well consolidates the results of site improvement. With the successful implementation of this IE improvement project, this paper concludes the implementation mode of IE technology in small and medium-sized automobile companies.The process of promotion model is divided into three stages:the earlier stage, middle stage, and later stage. It includes the determination strength of the leadership, implementation and organizational management of the project, plan implementation, award of excellent case, experience promotion and continuous improvement, etc. Based on the promotion model of IE technology, the locating position of the enterprise at the present stage can be determined so as to select suitable IE technology.It is hoped that this paper will help more similar enterprises effectively promote and apply IE technology, thus achieving the purpose of improving productivity and reducing costs.
