Research on the Emergency Frequency Control Measures for Power System with Wind Farms Integration

As a clean and renewable energy, wind power has made a rapid development in recent years under the pressure of environmental problem and energy shortage. This has important strategic significance for optimization of the energy structure and the sustainable development of the national economy.With the large-scale wind power integration to grid, the inherent characteristics of wind power have changed the distribution of the original power flow, circuit transmission power and inertia of the entire system. Therefore, emergent frequency control measures will also be affected. The impact on the emergent frequency control measures with integration of the large-scale wind power is studied in the paper.The state-of-the-art on emergent frequency control measures for power system with wind power are reviewed in the paper.From the view of power balance, the paper has analyzed the basic nature of the wind and the characteristics of wind generator’s active power output in detail. Conclusion is that wind power can influence the stability of the grid, both on the normal state and the post-fault state. And the influence is more obvious in isolated grid of post-fault. So large-scale wind power integration to grid has an influence on the emergent frequency control measures in isolated grid. By analyzing the controlling characteristics on different kinds of wind turbines, the paper has studied the ability of the normal unites and different kinds of wind turbines on supporting and regulating of the system frequency.Based on the typical operating mode of Guizhou power grid in2015, the paper has analyzed the impact on the emergent frequency control measures with large-scale wind power integration to Guizhou power grid, and proposed some corresponding adjustment measures after that. Based on the actual grid simulation result, the paper verifies the correctness of the theoretical derivation.
