As a cleaner and economic energy, LNG plays an important role in world energy system. But there is large hazard in LNG storage system, if accident happened, the injury and property losses will be huge. With the wide usage, the safety research on LNG storage system will be a hot topic.In this paper, major hazard installation (Inflammable and explosive toxic) assessment method was selected to assess one LNG storage tank based on risk factors analysis majoring in fire and explosion. Through the assessment, it’s found that potential risk of storage tank is very large, the result from LNG vapor cloud explosion is serious; the result of inherent hazard grading to LNG tank indicates that the danger grade is level 1. But the level of installed safety control measure is level B, which showed that the safety technical measures and safety management to LNG storage tank is not up to the ideal. To the serious result raised from tank roll-over, fault tree analysis method was used to find out the root cause. According to the assessment result for risk factors, the countermeasures to control risk actions are given out from personnel, machinery and management aspects.
