With the development of power electronics, power grid of the harmonic pollution and reactive power consumption, which is also harmful to the power equipment operation. Along with the national network reconstruction, STATCOM played a crucial role in flexible AC power of reactive power compensation. Compared with the traditional reactive compensation device, STATCOM is the future of reactive power compensation equipment development trend, because it’s adjusting range is very extensive and it’s dynamic response is also very quickly.Focusing in the traditional compensation devices by switching device which has a contradiction that is the switch frequency is restricted and the compensation capacity is small. This paper puts forward a new kind of equipment that is called the cascade H-bridge based on the reactive power generator. The new equipment’s structure is very simple, it has a large compensation range. The more module the more capacity. In order to ensure that the system continues to work, we used the power unit sits near the road circuit design. The system can cut off the faulty unit automatic.This paper expounds the development of reactive power compensation device’s status and trends. And analyzes the basic work of reactive power compensation principle. Then it introduces a cascade H-bridge STATCOM’s topological structure and it’s modulation principle. The modulation principle of CPS-SPWM and it’s character. When the same level of output number, the switching frequency is improved. DC side can be used instead of dc capacitor source when adopting the vector control of reactive power generator. In this way it can reduce the cost and the size of device. The paper also gives the additional DC power and vector under the control of the simulation results. And established the simulation model by DC-motor load, analyzing the dynamic compensation effect.Finally, based on the platform in the laboratory, accomplished the experimental of the three-phase PWM rectifier, and provided the experimental results.Figure [75] table [1] reference [53]
