With the rapid development of economy, the power quality demand of people increases,the power reliability of distribution network draws more and more attention, and the core ofdistribution automation lies in the feeder automation, the feeder automation’s basic unit isFTU. FTU is the base of the distribution automation system, the important component ofdistribution network, so, it is meaningful to improve the power distribution reliability andpower quality.In this paper we first introduce the working principle of Distribution Automation andFeeder Automation, and the function of FTU. After analyzing, the hardware of whole systemadopts S3C2410of Samsung Corporation, because of its rich resources and powerful controlfunction, realizing the research of FTU’s core. The second, we analyze the functions of FTU,such as remote measure, remote signal, remote control, protection and communication, andgive the system’s technical core. Based on this, we introduce the working principle of theeach module in detail, including data acquisition, switch input/output, communication, powermanagement reset circuit, etc. Finally, through the connection of FTU, Breaker/load switchand system software, we test the security of the system, remote measure and control, andsystem fault respectively, finally get the test result.
