Agricultural Research universities, with the dual characteristics of both industry and research, play a unique and important role in constructing the national technology innovation system. Youth teacher is the main force of teaching and research of agricultural research university, as well as the future and the hope of agricultural research university. The personnel training quality, the ability of scientific and technological innovation, the level of social services, cultural heritage and innovation ability of agricultural research universities are closely related to the growth and development of youth teachers. Therefore, strengthening youth teachers’career management is of great significance for the improvement of the teaching staff, the enhancement of the university’s standard, and the promotion of the career development of youth teachers. In academic circles, it has some theoretical basis and practical experience in career management research of youth teacher of the university at home and abroad, but it needs a more differentiated, dynamic research based on different types and different industries of university.On the basis of brief reviewing and combing the theoretical study about career management of university teachers and its historical development at home and abroad, this study analyzes and summarizes the practical experience of career management of some famous university teachers. This study believes that the career management of youth teachers should be the dynamic process of determining their career development goals, exploring ways of implementation, and helping to realize their goals through youth teachers themselves and their university. Under the context of constructing university teachers with Chinese characteristics, it has the practical significance to build the career management system of youth teachers in Chinese agricultural research universities, which taking the policy guidance and the project promotion as the leader, the organization management as the protector, the personal development and university development as the goal.Taking all the youth teachers of Huazhong Agricultural University as the research object, this study adopted a quota sampling method to select nearly half of the youth teachers to do the questionnaire, which inquiring their job satisfaction, the career management status about themselves and their organization, and analyzed the data of its demographic characteristics and occupation characteristics. It found that the objective and subjective demand about career management of youth teachers in agricultural research university are strong, and the career management status had difference and phase characteristics, for instance, youth teachers in lower status in the organizational resources and individual conditions gave lower mark to career management, while the youth teachers in the stable and adaptation period gave the lower evaluation. At the same time, the significant level of the difference in career management of different dimensions was not the same. For example, the difference between young teachers’self-occupation career management would be more significant than that of the organizational career management, and the difference of the former’clear goals’and’science innovation’dimension was more notable. It provided the powerful support to construct the career management system of youth teachers in agricultural research university.This study pointed out that we should create a’3-3-4-4’young teachers’career management system of agricultural research university:three management levels covering university-college-teaching and research office (research team) management; three stages which include career adaptation, career growth and career maturity; four functions including meeting the adaptability, fulfilling the goals, integrated the mode and maintaining the mode; four elements which are teaching development, research development, organizational development, personal development. And we should build an interconnected, mutually reinforcing management system leading by the university, supervising by the colleges, hosting by teaching and research office (research team), and giving priority to young teachers.
