Study on Fresh-keeping of Cut Gerbera Flower and Measurements of Physiological Index

In this paper, the Gerbera jamesonii Bolus was studied in three experiments.①4℃cold storage of three different variety of flowers in different development stage and work out the optimum picking period of Gerbera jamesonii Bolus for cold storage through the observation of the vast life and the changes of fresh weight in different storage time and how long those can be stored.②Giving paper-covering treatment on five different Gerbera flowers and storing in1℃、4℃、7℃、10℃、25℃respectively and taking an observation of vast time and storage time. Therefore,we can select the optimum temperature and covering style during the cold storage.③We chose two different kind of Gerbera jamesonii Bolus which were the most favorable and the least suitable for storage and stored them in4℃in dry storage. Through the observation of fresh weight change, the content of soluble sugar,soluble protein,POD,SOD,and MDA,and the changes of Relative electric conductivity etc,we studied the effects of those factors as below on Gerbera jamesonii Bolus during the cold storage and further study on the main impact factors.1The most favorable storage period of da008and Lvxinfen is the unexpanded anther flowering period. The most suitable picking time of Red-Hat is bare anther flowering time.2The best temperature for Gerbera flower storage is3-8℃with fully coverage. For the different variety, there are different temperatures. The most of the variety are best stored in4℃.For Baimawangzi, the most favorable is7℃. Among these five kinds, the da008can be stored the longest time in4℃. Therefore, it appropriate for a long time storage. And Hongjixing was stored the shortest time,for only11.8d,so it can not be stored long.3The length of the storage time of Gerbera flowers were negative correlation with the content of soluble carbohydrate and soluble protein, the reactive of POD and SOD. And storage time is positively with content of MDA and the condition of conductivity. The comparative analysis on storage property of two varieties shows that da008is better than Hongmaozi. The accumulation of water, energy substances of flower and the reactive of the enzyme all play significant influence on cold storage of Gerbera flowers. But the true causes need the further research.
