Analysis of Affiliated Hospital of graduate status rounds teaching and influence factors in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine as an example

The clinical ward around teaching (CWAT), which is the most important and vivid part of the clinical teaching, is a critical pathway to integrate the medical theory and clinical practice. The effect of CWAT will directly influence the training quality of medical graduate students. This study aims to explore the restricting impact factors of CWAT by analyzing the implementation of CWAT in Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (TAH, BUCM). According to the analysis, the study puts forward a few suggestions and solutions to improve the quality of CWAT in TAH, BUCM. These will be the scientific basis to raise its clinical postgraduates’quality.Based on the information obtained by exchange with the graduate students and instructors, and the literature reviews of relevant research, the study verifies the possible impact factors and designs a student-perspective questionnaire which based on these possible impact factors to investigate the status of CWAT. The survey results are analyzed by SPSS to explore the related factors to the effect of CWAT in TAH, BUCMThe study found that graduate students’retest results, relationship between graduates and instructors, graduates’personal interests and preparations, compliance of ward around, combined situation with scientific progress and the use of heuristic teaching are significantly related to the effect of CWAT in TAH, BUCM. The graduate retest results and compliance of ward around have a significantly influence to the effect of CWAT, and higher scores and compliance will improve the scores of questionnaire. According to the finding above, the study makes the following recommendations:Strengthen the training of graduates’cultural medical skills in ward around. Strengthen the training of clinical graduates’basic clinical skills. For different levels graduates, enhance the guide and support of clinical practice to improve students" ability. Strengthen the clinical inspector of students. Carrying out the teaching around demonstration activities to specify, institutionalize and standardize the clinical around. Do a good supervision and appraisal of clinical ward around teaching.
