The Level and Significance of MMP-7in the IPF

ObjectiveTo study the changes of MMP-7in the serum of IPF patients,and further to make clear of the pathogenesis of MMP-7in IPF.Materials and MethodsThe concentration of serum MMP-7from11IPF patients and10normal control were analyzed with ELISA, while the lung function, arterial blood gases and the severity of dyspnea were detected.Results(1) The MMP-7concentration (41.54±10.11) ng/ml from patients with mild to moderate lung function injury and the MMP-7concentration (61.42±10.96) ng/ml from patients with severe lung function injury were higher than the normal control group (26.57±15.89) ng/ml, and the difference were statistically significant (P<0.05); MMP-7concentration from the group of severe lung function injury of IPF was higher than the group of mild to moderate lung function injury, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).(2)The MMP-7level showed a negative correlation(r=-0.623, P=0.041) with the PaO2and positive corre\ation(r=0.684,P=0.02) with dyspnea severity,While showed no significant correlation with the concentration of P(A-a) O2, PaCO2and HCO3-Conclusion(1) MMP-7may be involved in the pathogenesis of IPF.(2) MMP-7could be a reference for severity and prognosis of IPF.
