Objective: To explore the therapeutic effect of Cochlear Implants in prelingually deafPatients and the related influencing factors. Methods: One hundred fifty-nine cochlear implantees were involved in thisinvestigation.Interviewed the implantees parents or teachers.Asking them to rate Theimplantees aural ability objectively according to Categories of Auditory Performance(CAP) and speech producing ability according to Speech Intelligibility Rating(SIR),then analyzed the relationship between effect of aural/oral rehabilitation representedby CAP/SIR rating results and its possible13influence factors including sex, handedness, inner ear malformations, Brain abnormalities, Hearing aid wearing beforesurgery, language training before surgery, Implanted ear, type of implant, age atsurgery, implanted period, language atmosphere after surgery, rehabilitation mode andfinancial Conditions. Univariate test and maltivatiate stepwise logistic regressionmodel were used for the analysis. Results: In aunivariate analysis, it was confirmed that4factors i.e.Hearing aid wear-ing before surgery (P=0.041), language training before surgery(P=0.030), implantedperiod(P<0.001), financial Conditions(P<0.001) were correlated to CAP;3factorsi.e. Implanted ear (P=0.037), implanted period (P<0.001), financial Conditions (P<0.001) were correlated to SIR.In a multivariate analysis using stepwise logisticregression model, the more significant influence factors for CAP and SIR wereimplanted period and financial Conditions. Conclusion: implanted period and financial Conditions play a decisive role in thetherapeutic effects of cochlear implantation in patients.
