The Research of Shear-bond-strength of Zirconia to Human Enamel under Different Conditions

Zirconia is a new type of dental ceramic and its strength and toughness are superior toother dental ceramics such as Empress and In-ceram, while the optical and etheticalproperties are similiar. With the development of Zirconia, the indications of all-ceramicrestorations has been widened from inlay, onlay, full crown to bridge and even Resin-bonded-FPD. Resin bonding had widely applicated for cemenations of all-ceramicrestorations. Nowadays, resin cements can be divided into2categories: total-etching andself-etching. The former needs separate phosphate etching procedure, while the latter etchesthe dental hard tissue with the monomers in itself.RelyX Unicem,Ivoclar Multilink Automix, BiscoBiscem, Panavia F2.0are allself-etching resin cements and their bond strength to dental tissue were affected by severalfactors, such as the surface modifications and coupling agents.This study utilized Cercon Zirconia to make samples and different physical andchemical treatments were applied on the samples later. The zirconia samples were bondedwith RelyX Unicem, Ivoclar Multilink Automix, BiscoBiscem, Panavia F2.0to humanenamel and the shear bond strength were measured with universal testing machine. Thebroken surfaces of the samples were observed under SEM. The results were expected toprovide useful reference for clinical applications.Research is divided into two parts: The first experiment, the study utilized CerconZirconia to make samples and Ivoclar Metal/Zirconia Primer and Clearfil Ceramic Primerwere applied on the samples later., and with four self-etching resin cements and measuredshear bond strength. According to the statistics of numerical analysis, the treatment of dentalceramic and enamel surface microstructur were observed under SEM, evaluating differentinfluence of chemical factors treatment on Cercon zirconia.The second experiment, using of50μ m and110μ m particle size of aluminum oxideon zirconia for blasting in different time, and to the first experiment plug from elected onresin cements and measured the shear-bond-strength. According to the statistics of numericalanalysis, the treatment of dental ceramic and enamel surface microstructure were observedunder SEM, this paper discusses the influence of physical treatments of sandblasting onCercon zirconia. The experimental results a conclusion as follows:1. Cercon zirconia in the same resin cement between the treatment groups: nosignificant difference, handling a significant difference in the same coupling agent groups.The bond strength of Panavia F2.0were higher than the mean of the other groups in the samecoupling agent processing conditions, Panavia F2.0was proofed was the strongest bondstrength in the same coupling agent processing conditions, and there are no significantinfluence of used coupling agent alone in bond strength of zirconia and enamel.2. Cercon zirconia were sandeblasting in the different conditions, each group generallybeen significant difference,50μ m,10s,50μ m,15s,110μ m,10s,110μ m,15s were nosignificant differences between groups, and higher than the mean all remaining two groups;Proof of sandblasting conditions on bond strength of zirconia and human enamel haveinfluence.
