Wireless sensor network is composed of self-organization of a large number of sensor nodes through wireless communication. How to use energy effectively, how to average energy consumption, how to extend the life cycle of sensor nodes is an important challenge in wireless sensor network. This paper researches on the efficient energy cluster head election algorithm in wireless sensor network.Based on LEACH selection mechanism of secondary cluster head, an optimization strategy which can protect the cluster node with worst performance is proposed. In certain radius, the strategy can find the node which has higher energy above the average and is the nearest from the worst properties node, and also choose it as the cluster head. Then it forms an optimal multi-hop communication among cluster heads, which not only effectively save the energy, but also protect nodes with less energy, to extend the life cycle of each node. The simulation results showed that the strategy can reduce more energy consumption than LEACH to extend the network life cycle. A kind of dormancy and awakening mechanism covering by spiral selection is proposed based on the improved clustering algorithm. It reduce the number of nodes in the awakening state by judging whether the node testing scope are overlapped to decrease the amount of redundant data transmission, effectively avoiding the continuous listening by receiver module of the communication RF to wireless channel, in order to save the electricity energy and the entire energy of the network.
