Southern Song Dynasty, which is full of turmoil and chaos, also presents particular aesthetic quality in the cultural history of China. Under the precarious political situation, it gave birth to such poems of "the generation of literature" which forms an indispensable and essential part in Chinese literature. Due to the special nature of the times, poems of the Southern Song Dynasty and western Zhejiang were closely linked to each other. It is the special geographic influence of western Zhejiang that contributes to the aesthetic and cultural character of the of those Southern Song Dynasty poets in its unique way. Hence the poems of the Southern Song Dynasty are marked with the imprint of distinctive regional impression. While Southern Song Dynasty was up on the stage of Chinese history, western Zhejiang gradually became a geographical district with Hangzhou, Jiaxing, and Huzhou as the centres, covering the area of Hangzhou, Huzhou, Jiaxing, Suzhou, Changzhou, Zhenjiang, and Jiangyin. At the time of the demise of Northern Song Dynasty, and the era of Southern Song Dynasty sacrificing part of the empire, western Zhejiang frequently appeared in the Southern Song Dynasty poems which lead to a geographical map of Southern Song Dynasty poems in western Zhejiang. With its unique natural geography, political situation and economy, western Zhejiang gradually influenced the aesthetic senses of poets in Southern Song Dynasty. And thus such poems highlighted the unique political character and aesthetic trend of Southern Song Dynasty. Precisely because of this, the Southern Song Dynasty poems gradually bred soft and elegant aesthetic qualities with numerous achievements under the significant influence of western Zhejiang geographic features.
