The Tibetan people is a historically ancient people. Since the beginning of formation of this nation, it has been well admired and respected by the people all over the world. Especially the Tibetan heroic epic-Gesar, as a great civilization achievement to describe the production and life of Tibetan ancestors in ancient times, so far has rooted in the people’s spiritual world and mental life. At the same time, Gesar is an original material with profound meaning and educational thought, which has been spreading orally and is well worth chewing carefully.At the beginning of the7th century, the strong slavery dynasty-Turk dynasty was founded. The Songtsen Gampo took a series of measures including politics, economy and culture in order to consolidate regime and facilitate the stability of political, the development of economy and the prosperity of culture. In the meanwhile, the internal contradiction was gradually deepened. After successive years of infighting of a few generations, people in the war looked forward to a kind of peace and stability life. With this background, Gesar is born. On the basis of the account, the essay adopted the documentary analysis and was on the basis of The Life Story of Gesar, written by Jiangbianjiacuo and Wuwei and analyzes carefully the educational thought of Gesar.In Gesar times, on the basis of tribe and for the theme to war, the characteristics of patriarchy and military democracy was becoming apparent, which marked the Tibetan society developing from a blood tribe to a united nation. At the same time, various economical types and cultural communication frequently marked the Tibetan society stepping from savage to civilized society.The change of society and economy in Gesar times promoted the transition of culture. The Tibetan buddhist based on primitive beliefs and Bon religion have laid an important cultural basis for the formation and development of epic. However, education is an important component of culture. The transition of culture reflecting in education causes a series of factors’change related to education. In Gesar times, in order to satisfy the basic material demand, educational activities of older generation imparting production and life experience to younger generation appeared. And in the process of activities, initial educational thought budded. The educational thought in Gesar times is created by people, is a public thought and has its own uniqueness.The uniqueness represents mainly the following four aspects, educational aim, educational content, educational method and educational environment. In educational aim, the epic elaborates the semi-divine heroic image-Gesar from the divinity and human nature and makes it as the core of educational thought of the epic. On imparting educational content, the epic describes the idea of educational content from the four aspects, moral education, physical education, labour education and intellectual education. The four interrelates closely and promotes each other. On the use of educational method, the epic is not only put forward positive educational methods, such as persvasion and influence method and instant rewards method, but proposes the negative educational methods, such as admonish method and punishment method. In the educational environment implementing the educational activities, the epic points out the important function of family and society in loading Gesar’s dream and model Gesar’s nature.Educational thought reflects the cultural connotations of a certain age and embodies the ideas of education and educational views of a certain age. However, the educational thought in specific age must be with some limitations. Therefore, we should praise modern education concepts being highlighted in educational thought of the epic about promoting human development, equal and harmonious relationship between "educator" and "educatcc" and the educatee\s initiative. At the same time, we still can not ignore its shortcomings of inspection of the law of development of the educatee in body and mind and knowledge view.
