Abstract: Uygur Twelve Mukamu is a grand classical divertimento withdance,music and songs. This article basing on field work research, Using the methodof oral history, takes an intensive interview with Uygur folk artisans who performTwelve Mukamu in Shache County on their learning process and living conditions.This paper describes the path, characteristic and the status of inheriting TwelveMukamu, discussing the relationships between music, economy, folk-custom,environment and education situation in order to view the inheriting and developmentof Twelve Mukamu in today’s social environment.Except the introduction and the end, the paper has six parts:Introduction describes the cause, subject, method, perspective and thesignificance.Secondly, it takes Shache County for example, describe the history backgroundof Twelve Mukamu.Thirdly, it describes the inherit of Twelve Mukamu in aspects of culture offolk-custom, inherit mode, and social function.Fourthly, it describes the inherit status by interview old folk artists in the urbanandrulral(.
