Puccini(December22,1858-November29,1924) is an important opera master at the time at the turn of the Century. He is devoted to the creation of the opera all his life, and creates12operas, which has a great impact on the world opera development. His operas have unique features in the vocal music, they break the boundary of recitative and aria, emphasize the writing of aria. They are suitable for the singing voice and show the strengths of the voice with the singing melody. LE VILL1is Puccini’s debut, Italian writer Ferdinando. Fontana GiovaniVerga,(1850-1919) creates the opera script based on a South-East European folk legend called "willy".In opera history, LE VILL1is considered as an immature work of Puccini. It is not as good as his later works, Dr Nong lesko, Madame butterfly and Turandot, with high artistic level and great popularity. However, as Puccini’s first attempt, LE VILL1shows off the unique features of Puccini’s music. It also sets a tone for his later opera creation:always shaping a tragic woman who is destroyed for love, which is showed in his later works, such as Dr Nong lesko in Dr Nong, les., Mimi in The artist’s career, Tosca in Tosca, Qiao qiao sang in Madame butterfly, Liu in Turandot All of them prove that love will lead to the tragedy. Anna, a tragic character, beautiful, delicate, selfless, willing to sacrifice. She loves a passionate but indecisive man. Puccini describes all aspects of her personality with his unique music, which is worthy of deep study.The thesis digs into Anana’s image from analysis of Anana’s opera image, music image and main arias. The thesis consists of the introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction is about the the significance of topic selection and research status. The body can be divided into four parts: the first part is about Puccini’s life and the stages of opera creation; the second part introduces the background information, the creation motive, the characters and the plot; the third part analyzes Anana’s opera image, music image and personality; the forth part analyzes the main arias.
