In the21st century, culture industry has greatly developed, and has been one pillarindustry in United States, Japan and many other developed countries. China’s also clearlyrealized the important strategic significance of the development of cultural industry topromote economic development and social harmony, and many provinces and citiesattach great importance to the development of cultural industry, and offered a goal tobuild a "strong cultural province". However, although China has plenty of culturalresources and is a big cultural country, but it is a small cultural industry country, thequantity of successful and competitive cultural enterprise are too less, the overalldevelopment level is relatively backward, especially old revolutionary base areas in ourcountry,which made enormous sacrifices and significant contribution to revolutionarycause, is uneven. Due to the natural, historical and realistic factors, some of the oldrevolutionary base areas have rich cultural resources, but the development of culturalindustry is not satisfactory. How to promote culture industry development and to improvetheir own competitiveness in the old revolutionary base areas has become a urgentproblem to solve. Cultural industry is the sunrise industry of the new century, it not onlycan carry forward the culture, and also can get wealth, which is based on culture, and hasvital significance to promote the development of economy in old revolutionary baseareas.Based on the definition of culture, the denotation and connotation of culturalindustry and the problems of the research at home and abroad, the author analyzes thedevelopment of cultural industry in old revolutionary base areas. And make use ofporter’s "diamond" model to further analyze culture industry in Yimeng old revolutionarybase areas, through four basic elements and two subsidiary elements, and then targetedgives suggestions to promote the development of cultural industry and itscompetitiveness in old revolutionary base areas.
