There are a lot of indeterminate factors for mechanical parts in the design process, in engineering design to deal with these indeterminate factors, the traditional method is the safety factor method. As the safety factor method in theory has some shortcomings, the results can not be complete and clear evaluation for product safety, often resulting in product design there is a big risk or waste. Reliability design method, which is more scientific and reasonable, can make up the defect of safety factor method, thus obtained safety factor is more impeccable, the design is more realistic, it is more coincident with the demand of the modern mechanical parts design.During the reliability design process of mechanical parts, because there may be more dangerous points for the actual structure, it is generally difficult to directly determine safety factor. In this paper, it is based on the theory of traditional mechanical design and combines reliability design theory, and calculates the system reliability under conditions of the independent failure and the related failure.First, this article briefly describes the development history and current situation of mechanical reliability engineering, pointing out the purpose and significance of the reliability safety factor, and identifying research ideas and content of this article.Then, there is a detailed analysis for the mechanical reliability design theory, introducing the system level stress-strength interference model and considering the system reliability calculation under conditions of the independent failure and the related failure, and pointing out differences and similarities between the traditional safety factor and the reliability safety factor.Developing the reliability safety factor analysis software is based on the above principle, including interface design, the compilation of algorithm program and calling program for software, finally, calculating the reliability safety factor by calling the MATLAB software, and can check the greatest moment and bending moment diagram, and also can view system reliability and reliability safety factor and minimum shaft diameter under conditions of the independent failure and the related failure.Finally, the use of this software winch reel spindle design for reliability analysis, the winch reel mandrel bending moment diagram and calculates the system reliability and reliability safety factor under conditions of the independent failure and the related failure, at the same time sums up the research content of the article and prospects for future research and exploring issues.
