Social capital as a new concept is the focus in academy. It is thecapital embedded in the social network. At present social capital hadbecome the common research concerns of sociology, politics,economics and management science. Social capital has threeresearch level points: the macroscopic view, medium view and themicrocosmic view. The community social capital is an importantbranch of social capital, which is formed by the individuals andorganizations in the social contacts in communities. The behaviorchoice of community members is influenced by the community socialcapital. The community social capital can make a big difference tothe elderlies because who are the most enthusiastically and the mostparticipation members in the community participation. This research surveyed of 468 people over 60 years old, used themethod of descriptive statistics, factor analysis and structuralequation model to analyse the composition of community socialcapital and the present situation of the elderly fitness in Taiyuan,discuss the relationship between the urban community social capitaland the elderly fitness participation. At last draw the followingconclusion: social capital can be measured by five dimensions:Community Mutual Trust, Community Relations Network, CommunityCohesion, Community Activities and Community participation. Thecommunity social capital and the elderly fitness participation havesignificantly two-way related correlation. If the community socialcapital is good the elderly fitness participation are better, if the oldpeople’s fitness involved in well within a community also can improvethe social capital of the community.
