The paper mainly starts to explore the use of handcraft materials on the actual situation of the primary art teaching, to search existent questions about current situation of primary art education, and to unseal the new path of the aesthetic appreciation. During the past primary art teaching activities, it has neglected materials themselves’ important role on creative expression. Therefore, the writer realizes that the significance handcraft materials plays to primary art teaching through long-term observing, and materials play necessary effects with sparking students’ creative expression, so the writer will set materials as main body to expand analysis in this article.The first chapter starts from people’s understanding of materials and finds the dependence between the material and art through the evolution of human history, and then analyses the association of the concept of the material, feature and art education, and to exposit the origin of materials and art, finally, to find that the emergence of a new art materials will rest with new artistic language and the improvement of the human creativity.The second chapter tells that creativity is both an inexorable trend of social development and the core competitive forces of our education, and followed by analysis of the importance of creative thinking and status in art education, and finally to take two suggestions how to cultivate creative thinking.The final chapter describes that the author starts to give suited suggestions depend on characteristics of students’ logical thought, then to investigate experienced materials into enlightening students’ ways of creative thinking, and to stress students’ aesthetic experience and original representation, and to draw conclusions and outlook.
