With the rapid development of telecommunication technology and Internet technology,the integration of voice network and a packet data network has become an inevitable trend ofthe development of the network. It is clear that the traditional wired access network willevolution to MSAN (Multi-Service Access Node, integrated access network) and mediaaccess gateway with the IP switching in the near future. The MSAN can simultaneouslysupport voice, data and video triple play services will replace all kinds of access devicesnowadays. It will bring to us the reliable and low-cost VoIP, VOD and other data services.Ethernet technology is infrastructure for implementation of All-IP switching in UNI (UserNetwork Interface) device of MSAN. Due to implementation of Ethernet technology isdependent on Ethernet switch chip, therefore, it is of great significance to research on how todesign and implement Ethernet switch driver in UNI device of MSAN.This thesis is mainly organized around the design and development of UNI device ofMSAN based on Ethernet switch driver. Firstly, an overview of current condition and trendsof broadband access technology is taken. And then describes the UNI device of MSANimplementation details by six chapters. The main content of thesis is as follows.1. Based on wired access needs and key technologies of analysis in UNI device ofMSAN, through comparative two optional switch architecture system designs. Taking intoaccount the inheritance and scalability of hardware and software is more important thanintegration level requirement before choosing the split type architecture design as Ethernetswitch chip selection in UNI device of MSAN.2. Based on analysis needs of UNI device of MSAN, complete hardware and softwaresystem design of UNI device of MSAN, as well as a brief of Ethernet switch chip driverdesign and software module design.3. Study working principle of Broadcom Corporation switch chip in main control unitand user access unit of UNI device of MSAN. Under the multi-tasking environment ofembedded real-time operating system VxWorks, complete detailed design and coding ofEthernet switch chip management interface, PHY chip driver, Ethernet switch chip initialization process, and complete design and implementation of PCI bus, SPI bus, and MIIbus driver between Ethernet switch chip with PowerPC.4. The paper introduce Ethernet switch driver software testing method and test tools,through parts of the Ethernet switch driver functionality and performance test, verify functionof software design correctly and good performance.The paper elaborate UNI device of MSAN design and implementation process, throughthe use of Ethernet switching chip implement All-IP switching technology. Finally verifythrough testing, show that switch driver software module design and implementation meet thesystem needs.
