There is the extremely close relation between the development of special education and special education teachers’professional quality and level. Continuing education of special education teachers become the key factor of improving the professional quality and level of our special education teachers. At present, special education teachers could be less-watched in our country. We have attention to the needs of their continuing education and the difficulties of their participating in continuing education so little. So taking example of special education teachers of Jiangsu province this paper launches investigations of continuing education situation of special education teachers of Jiangsu province. Discuss the problem hindering further development of special education and try to supply some solution aimed to provide scientific basis for administrative decision-making and management of special education.This research is based on the questionnaire about teachers of the ninety-five special schools in Jiangsu province. After the research, we found out the following problems:there is little opportunities and imbalance for the training of teachers in the special education schools; special education teachers’degree is not high; the education methods for promoting of special education teachers is less; the forms of special education teachers’training is monotonous; the content of special education teachers’ training is not reasonable.According to the research, several suggestions are made to improve the training of the teacher of special education:more forms and ways should be created to train the teachers of special education; more training types, reasonable time and equal opportunities should be created for the teachers of special education; specific and practical training content should be adopted; the training of the teachers of special education should have more effective. Constructing a special school teachers’ on-the-job training mode and special schools’continuing education system of Jiangsu province, make the special education of Jiangsu province to obtain sustainable development.
