With the rapid development of mobile communication, mobile phone has become anindispensable tool in modern life. Among these mobile phone chip solutions, MTK hasbecome the platform of choice for all manufacturers with its low cost, short developmentcycle, and powerful features. Input Method is a necessary module for the phone, andconstructing all kinds of input methods on MTK platform makes differentiated experience ofvarious phones. This paper focuses on the development and practice of mobile-phone’s inputmethods on the MTK platform. Firstly, it introduces the MTK system structure, as well as theMTK MMI development process and couple users interface development data. Secondly, itdescribes the importance of the input method on the MTK platform, implementation andinterface, and implements of input method in two development frameworks such as PlutoMMI and Venus MMI. It describes in detail for the framework design and implementationmechanisms of the input method. Moreover, it studies and researches how to achieve somefeatures which are not supported. Finally it introduces how to build MTK developmentenvironment, how to put up cross-compiler, kernel firing on WINDOWS platform, as well asMTK test and characteristics and use of simulation tools MODIS.
