Design and Implementation of Book Management System

With the development of social information technology, computer technology, communication technology has been widely applied. The library, especially the university library, is a kind of commercial center of information resources. The books are borrowed frequently and the users change a lot, which includes a great deal of information data. Therefore, the library needs a perfect book management system to carry out unified management to books and users.Library information management system is a typical information management system. It mainly includes two ways:the front-end application design and establishment of database. The requirements for the front-end application design are full functional and easily to use, and the database has been required to be integrity and security. Based on the analysis of the present situation of the library management system, the essay firstly analyzes the needs of library management system; then designs the database of the system; finally achieves the library management system. This paper clearly describes the implementation principle of the system, introduces the development process, analyzes in detail of some of the functional modules and design introduction, makes the comprehensive consideration of the system’s scalability and practicality. The system includes four functional modules:book management, book borrows, readers information and personnel management. It has two kinds of users:the administrators and the readers. They have different usage permissions. The administrators carry out the unified management to library management system, which includes the books and the reader’s information, etc. Users can use the functions of borrow books and inquiries etc.The database of books management system is Microsoft SQL Server2005. System environment is Microsoft Visual Studio2010. The application of C#can realize the library management system code. Finally, the essay puts forward the proposals and plans for the lack of existing functionality. Library management system is testing and trial, and then it achieves the demand of the function and performance requirements.
