Virtual Reality (Virtual Reality) is a comprehensive information technologyrising in the late last century; it fuses the digital image processing, computer graphics,multimedia technology, the sensor technology and other information technologybranch. It has become one of hotpots of studies and application in the informationfield. Along with the country paying attention to the archaeological excavations andthe protection of cultural relics, the digital archaeological technology became a newarchaeology technology, so the virtual reality can also be applied in the archaeologyfield. At present domestic archaeological excavation works has also made some goodeffect in the digital development, but there are few researches in the methods ofapplying virtual reality technology to archaeological excavation site in the field ofarchaeological excavation simulation, while allowing the archaeologists uploading thedata collected in the field and able to complete the exploration side of thethree-dimensional modeling,.This paper firstly analyses the domestic and foreign digital archaeologicalapplication and the current situation of technology research. From the necessity ofrealizing digital archaeology, we put forward the subject about building virtualroaming system of field archaeological scene. The paper introduces the researchpurpose and meaning of the system: with the time flying and the human need ofmodern life, there is different degree of damage to cultural relics and sites. How to usethe virtual reality to make the field archaeological technology digital, establish thefield of the industry standard digital archaeological technology and technicalspecifications, establish industry standard and technical standard of fieldarchaeological technology, and a scientific, precise and comprehensive fieldarchaeological site virtual display technology research platform to protect and inheritthe Chinese culture spirit wealth, that is without doubt a current important field ofdigital archaeological technology research. Therefore, in the digital era today, usingthe virtual reality technology for the database of the field archaeological3D model, keeping records the field archaeological site and each type data and space relationsimportant information of the original unearthed cultural relics, there is importantpractical significance to research and develop the fields digital archaeological virtualdisplay system. On these foundations, this paper analyzes the present developmentsituation and dynamic of the technology of virtual reality at home and abroad used inthe field of the digital archaeology, and the three direction of digital archaeologicaldevelopment:3D records,3D reproduce,3D spread. At present our country has madesome achievements in the aspect of the cultural relic virtual repair and digitalprotection technology.In this paper, the method combining points and faces is used to collect the fielddata in the field archaeological excavation. Namely, the role of the tachometer inarchaeology: using the tachometer can realize agent party plan and remains flat awhole section of surveying and mapping, even if the cave, grave complex structure,using the tachometer layout conductor, measuring point by point, can get3Dcoordinate, then transmitting the data to the computer, and edited as a figure. We getthe point space coordinates and their attributes through point by point or by face;through the aerial and digital camera to get the surface data information. Collect thedata of cultural relics emerging in every soil layer, because all sorts of reasons (suchas oxidation, artificial repair, etc), the state of cultural relics just unearthed may bedifferent from in the physical museum, so the first-hand data acquisition must betimely and rapid comprehensive, namely collecting data as much as possible,protecting the key precious relics data from different point of views and time. Whenshot the relic in the ash pits we need to prone pat, as far as possible the whole shoot,which is favor of cultural relics modeling and3D virtual scene generation.When collect data, notice the light condition and the camera’s setting data,because setting different data may affect the texture processing. That is, to ensure thatthe data react the site roundly, and to make sure it real and clear. The picture we get asthe texture, here we adopt a different texture processing method according need, using:texture mapping, bump mapping, environment map three mapping methods to processtexture. Virtual object modeling is the key point of the article, including3d modeling technology: geometric modeling, sports modeling, physical modeling; in the3DSMAX, according to the shape features of the modeling object use different methodsfor3d modeling, there are some commonly used methods of modeling: turningmodeling, lofting modeling, extrusion modeling, NURBUS modeling, compositeobject modeling, Boolean modeling and model, texture modeling the seven methods.In order to more lifelike scene effect, realize the scene light treatment, and useselection of the object detail level management (LOD), the unit division two methodsto manage the model for the whole model.Finally, the exploration side modeling as an example, using the3DS MAX andVRML powerful modeling capabilities and vivid scene production effect, show theprocesses and methods from3DS MAX finishing modeling export to VRML togenerate scene; and simply introduces the process of virtual scene Web publishingthrough C#and VRML.
