In recent years, China’s urban street construction has achieved rapid development, street lighting requirements and the increasing number of urban street monitoring and streetlight facilities management issues become more and more prominent, more serious is that the frequent theft or damage of the lighting equipment and cables caused the lamps do not light, which not only affect the image of the urban landscape and urban transport, and returned to society caused no small economic loss and harm. View of this situation, the paper designs a timely display of street light operation and24-hour alarm monitoring and control of street lights and security systems.The system takes advantage of the embedded processing and wireless communication network (GPRS/ZigBee), computer networks, power line carrier communications scientific cutting-edge technology, combines with the city lighting industry’s market demand, and builds a set of data acquisition, telecommunications, street lighting and cable safety status display and alarm in one of the ARM and ZigBee based street light tracking and safety systems. Thereby,street management personnel in the room can have the lamp operating conditions, reducing the operating costs of street management,and by24-hour real-time detection of cable status, cable can be prevented from being stolen theft effectively.The Intelligence streetlight tracking and safety system consists of three parts:the Flat-panel display unit, master, and street safety device. In this paper, two aspects of the hardware and software design to describe the process of the whole system. In hardware design, the Flat-panel display unit as LPC2478for themicroprocessor, expands the color LCD display fuction,LCD touch function,keys function, and serial communication functions; street light safety device with a power line carrier communication theory, signal transmission unit as a signal sender and centralized control unit as a signal receiving end, to achieve24hours of detection of street light cable status; master as LM3S2948for the microprocessor, external ZigBee coordinator module, central control unit of output, GPRS DTU module, streetlights signal acquisition and data upload. In software design, the flatbed host is embedded graphics driver library, designed and written man-machine interface, transplanted μC/OS-Ⅱ real-time operating system, the rational allocation of system resources, to ensure the normal operation of each task; master makes the street light data as communication protocol format for transmission to improve communication efficiency; centralized control unit uses software decoder power line carrier signals, at the same time,according to the status of street light cable which gives the indication signal.
