Zongzi is one of the traditional food in China, and is the witness of China’s longhistory and heritage. But packaging design of Zongzi is experiencing a deformeddevelopment, not reflecting the characteristic of the combination of traditional culture andmodern design, making a worried future prospect. In the introduction part of this article, itputs forward that the research purpose of this topic, and with the comparison of foreignexcellent traditional food packaging design and similar domestic packaging style, andthrough the sorting and summing up of data, hoping to find out a correct developingdirection.This paper firstly introduces the origin and development of Zongzi, trying tounderstand the profound cultural connotation of Zongzi, and also to make clear itsimportant historical significance for modern people and society. At the same time, thisarticle also analyzes the market developing condition of Zongzi, and carries on thedetailed study of all kinds of consumer psychology, and summarizes the major brands ofZongzi, and outlines the evolution process from traditional marketing to the modernproduction and marketing of Zongzi.In addition, the current situation of the development of packaging design of Zongzi isalso fully displayed in this article, and it’s systematically introduced that the packagingdesign, packaging styles and the packaging technology, and it’s listed that the typicalexample analysis of the common packaging styles of Zongzi in the market, it’s also clearlystated that all sorts of malpractices in the market, providing some clear facts and anstandards of the packaging design of Zongzi to help it improved.The article focuses on the development trend of the packaging design of Zongzi, andto research how packaging design could better suit for the development of human societyand the change of natural environment in the future. This chapter first analyzes the futurepackaging materials and styles of Zongzi from the perspective of environmental protectionand ecological balance, and put forward that the packaging design should be green andmoderate. And with subject of the spirit of "people-oriented", the packaging design ofZongzi should be emotional and safe; meanwhile, it should meet the requirements of the development of market, image the brand, and develop the potential market; finally, itshould establish the unique packaging design of our nation in forest of world design.
