With the increasingly rapid economic development, needs for earth pressure balance shield machine is increasingly expanding. As an important component of shield machine, cutterhead and cutter have functions such as rock-breaking and supporting the tunneling interface. The reasonable structure design of cutterhead is the premise of safety, stability and efficiency of tunneling. Based on substantial literature and project data, the cutterhead type selection, opening design, cutter layout and cutterhead CAD system of EPB shield are studied. The main researches of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1) Summarizing typical geological parameters that determine cutter selection. A cutterhead geological adaptive selection method based on BP neural network is proposed. Taking the successful shield design cases as training and testing samples, the feasibility of the method is verified.(2) A cutterhead simulation model is established based on cutterhead structure and geological parameters of one project section. The soil tank pressure measured in the project verifies the effectiveness of the model. On this basis, the impact of construction parameters and opening characteristics to cutterhead boring performance and pressure transfer coefficient are researched, finally a cutterhead opening design method is proposed.(3) Cutter layout method based on the force balance and wear uniform is proposed and the method is applied to cutter layout of a cutterhead. An optimal disc cutter spacing theoretical model is established and the correctness is experimental verified. A disc cutter multi-objective optimization layout model is established. By optimizing the disc cutter layout of a cutterhead, the model practicality is verified.(4) The needs and goals of cutterhead system design are analyzed, the system framework and design process are programmed. Based on the cutterhead design method proposed in this paper, an EPB shield machine cutterhead CAD system that contains cutter opening design, cutter layout optimization and automatic assembly function is developed.117figures,15tables,115references.
