The Study on the Safety Control of Semi-submersible Ship Carrying Huge Heavy Cargo

This dissertation maily studies on the safety control of the semi-submersible ship, carrying the huge heavy cargo comprehensively and systematically, which is based on the comprehensive investigations and analysis. This dissertation puts forward the guide on sequence and criteria of assessment for huge heavy cargo transported by semi-submersible ship.Firstly, the dissertation reviews and concludes the development of semi-submersible ship and its related maket, the study on this field is also well concluded. Then puts forward the main study points and method.Secondly, analyses huge heavy cargo towing and its risk factors. Based on the safety risk analysis, a novel assessment framework is developed in this paper for evaluating and comparing alternative plans that may be presented by different bidders or experts before towing activity.Thirdly, introduces the sequence of float on/off operation, also detailed discusses fllowing topitcs:the limit standard of value for float on/off operation, how to choose the suitable water areas for float on/off operation, the worksope before float on operation, and the sequence of float on and off opearation respectively. In this charpter, also calculates the height, length and other parameters like attenuation range of ship wave according to ship type and sailing speed, then analyses the rolling of semi-submersible vessel and its floating cargo caused by ship wave quantitatively, thus determine the scope of navigation which will not affect the operations of semi-submersible vessel, it provides a basis for maritime authorities to determine the scope of navigation.Fouthly, this dissertation concludes and analyses the sequence and mothod of seafastening of huge heavy cargo. The method of prediction of the movement of semi-submersible ship and huge heavy cargo is put forward. By this method, the rolling angle of semi-submersible ship and cargo, can be predicted in different conditions. This will help evaluate the forces of cargo and secure huge heavy cargo more safely. Finally, reviews and studies the mothod of stability and strength check adoptted presently in shipping practice. Comparison is carried out, suggestions on developping the criteria are also given.This disertation breaks down the whole transportation of huge heavy cargo to following son system, i.e. heavy cargo towing, float on/off operation, cargo seafastening, saftey control during voyage, provides the theory and data for the future application design and further study of the scheme, especially for the technology and management innovation for huge heavy cargo transportation.
