With the development of science and technology, functions of the GPS vehicle terminal are growing. In the face of increased production of GPS vehicle terminal and increased complexity of production testing, the existing artificial detection way has been unable to meet the needs of modern testing requirements of production. Therefore, in this paper, a set of automatic test system of GPS vehicle terminal was designed.Automatic test system of GPS vehicle terminal consists of PC console, portable test equipment and GPS vehicle terminal. This system is a configurable universal test system, as it could configure parameters reasonably through the PC console, and use the same test program to test the functions of different models of GPS vehicle terminals based on the portable testing instrument hardware platform. Therefore, the configurability of production test system enlarges its application range, improves the work efficiency, and realizes the automatic detection of product management.For the first time, it analyzed automatic test system of GPS vehicle terminal function requirements, overall design of the system is determined and communication protocols among the PC console, GPS vehicle terminal and test equipment is designed. Secondly, this paper introduces hardware design of portable test equipment, elaborates microprocessors selection and its peripheral circuit design, as well as power modules, data acquisition/output module. Finally, software design of portable test equipment is introduced which presented driver program of each modules and realized configurable features program, moreover, configurable features program is divided into data acquisition/output detection and program-controlled adjustable power supply voltage output testing procedures.Finally the main detection module of system is tested, test result and data analysis is given in the article.
