Research on Optimization of Compartment Arrangement and Passage Design in Major Ships

It is difficult and valuable to research on major ships with military signality andcomplicated interior structure.It is meaningful to study compartment arrangement and passage design with reasons asfollow: better conditions of living cabins keep crew enough physical strength to work;reasonable arrangement of work compartments improve efficiency of crew; modified layoutof food supply area is beneficial to transportation of goods and materials. With thesignificance, the research topic is based on the introduction of design phase, principals ofcompartment arrangement and passage design in air crafts and research status at home andabroad.Firstly, general arrangement situation of living cabins, work compartments and foodsupply area on "Kuznetsov" aircraft carrier are introduced. Secondly, rationality of thearrangements and some disadvantages are analyzed, and then, some general arrangementprincipals of different compartments and passages are proposed based on recommendationsfor improvement.It is really difficult to assess the performance of compartment and passage arrangementsbecause they are always done by designs’ experience. In this article, related concepts ofsystems engineering are described and area of compartments and passages are regarded as asystem. Afterwards, evaluation research proceeds based on thought and several evaluationmethods of systems engineering, especially the application of fuzzy comprehensiveevaluation and Gray comprehensive evaluation. It changes the evaluation from simplequalitative research to scientific quantitative research.Two usual problems are pointed out in arrangement and design of major ships based onquantitative research of important indicator in comprehensive evaluation, and differentimprovement projects are proposed. System optimization comes true by means of ascertainingthe most reasonable project through mathematical discussion and analysis.
