Optimal Cooling Capacity and Optimal Number of Running Pumps for Power Plant Recirculating Cooling Water System

Not only the condition of the key equipment but also the performance of the auxiliary equipment leading to the economy of the thermal power plant system. The circulating water pump is one of the large power consumption auxiliary equipment. It consumes electricity about1%～1.5%of the total electricity generation. Circulating pump operation mode has great influence on the pressure of turbine exhaust pressure, thereby affecting the steam turbine power. Therefore, the research and improve of the circulating pump operation mode has a great significance for saving the electricity consumption and improving the plant running economy.The optimal operation research of thermal power plant recirculating cooling water system was developed under the financial of Project Supported by Provincial Prospective Cooperation of Industry-Academia-Research, Project Supported by C-S Foundation of Yangzhou city and Yangzhou University. The main research works and results are as follows:(1) The heat transfer and energy consumption of the system were analyzed by the component of power plant recirculating cooling water system.(2) Relationship between cooling capacity and steam turbine output was researched. The optimal cooling capacity principle which considered power units and recirculating cooling water system was put forward.(3) The optimization model about the number of running pumps was established based on the analysis of system optimization scheme.(4) Take Jiangsu XX Power Plant as an example, each correlation charts of influence factor were obtained through performance calculation among circulating pump, steam turbine and condenser. Then on the basis of these correlation charts, the optimum operation mode in different circulating water temperatures and loads is approached. And the optimal condition fig is regimented for straightforward use.In this paper, energy efficiency target was sorted, optimization scheme was analyzed, the method of accurately determine the optimal number of running pumps was put forward. It provides a good result of energy-saving without adding any new equipment.
