With unceasingly improved RIA for TSH, the diagnosis rate of Subclinical Hypothyroidism (SCH) is higher and higher. In recent years, it is the damage of inducing hypothyroidism, dyslipidmia, atherosclerosis, neuropsychiatric disorder and heart disease as well as mental decline during the pregnancy that made it be paid more attention. Modern medical therapy for treating SCH is just supplementing thyroxin, while targeted and working fast, its improper and unmanageable dosage inevitability brings about subclinical hyperthyroidism or angina. Additionally, there is still no high quality results of RCT supporting the curative effect of old patients. SCH can belong to "Fatigue""Damage""Dementia""Insomnia" or "Edema".Many experts held that the pathogenesis is kidney yang deficiency or spleen and kidney yang deficiency, so they treat the disease with warming. Presently, although traditional Chinese medicine therapy relies on the guideline of treatment based on syndrome differentiation improving symptoms and signs, its course is long and curative effect is working slowly. So, with its good outlook, the combination of TCM and WM can operate very well for treating SCH. Prof. Gao with his good virtue and skill has engaged in clinical work for nearly two decades, he is cautious and conscientious. Whenever encountering difficult clinical cases, he always refers to the classics and ponder deeply, making it effective to dissolve the diseases. As the society speeds up, work pressure increases, people’s lifestyle have changed qualitatively. For today’s patients, Prof. Gao points that the therapy should be different from treating the kidney. So comes the opinion of "The deficient of Spleen qi induces the SCH as well as the fatigue". Prof. Gao uses the "supplementing qi of spleen" as the crucial principle to treat SCH, with Buzhong Yiqi decoction in combination with small dose of Euthyrox. He also gives tips for health maintenance according to patient’s constitution, making the clinical symptoms improved significantly, with the good curative effect. With the guidance of Prof. Gao, I studied his experience in the therapy of SCH through watching the whole process of diagnosis and treatment and collecting typical clinical cases as well as following up the patients. Also I talked deeply with him to analyze the application of the main description so as to summed up Prof. Gao’s clinical experience of treatment for SCH in TCM combined with WM.
