After a series of processing such as continuous rolling or pickling, the strip should be rolled into certain dimensions of the coil, because of the deviation of the roll system and strip’s uneven thickness and irregularity,the strip may produce random deviations. It causes steel coil edges irregularity , impact packaging and transport or reduce yield.So it is important to make deviation control system to improve work efficiency.For the above problems, paper makes strip coiler as the object, chooses a electro-hydraulic deviation control device solution, defines lateral running deviator as control variable, design strip coiler electro-hydraulic deviation control system with classical control theory and modern control theory in MATLAB.Paper built mathematical model of the strip coiler deviation control system. First,simple PID controller is designed, as the foundation for higher performance controller. After the introduction of fuzzy theory, general fuzzy controller is made, this kind of controller is easy and convenient to realize, but simulation results indicates that this controller exist a static error. So combine the advantages of the two controllers, fuzzy PID controller is designed. Fuzzy logic system is set up in fuzzy logic toolbox of MATLAB,dynamic simulation of the system is also done. At last paper tries state feedback control, a control method used in state space description, it can allocate closed-loop poles, as well as improve the control characteristics of the system. Response simulation curve of above control methods can be got through simulink model.Results indicate that, relative to traditional PID control, fuzzy PID has more advantages, it can obtain faster response speed and smaller overshoot. State feedback control could help the system get expected closed-loop poles and improve the control characteristics of the system directly.
