A Report on Classroom Interpreting

As an interpretation learner, it helps us a lot to take active in the foreign affairs activities and pracitical activities of interpretation. It will offer more opportunities to put what we have learn at university into practice and accumulate gradually valuable experiences. As an interpreter, the author has undertaken the work of escorted interpretation, class interpretation, consecutive interpretation of the foreign affairs activities of the Seminars on Service Outsourcing for African Countries, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China, and organized by Hunan International Business Vocational College. This is a practice report based on the author’s real-life experiences of the work as an interpreter in the lectures of the seminars on Service Outsourcing. First of all, the author introduces the preparation work in detail, which includes seminar introduction, the background of service outsourcing and its development, the information about the speaker and the participants, the content of the lectures, the seminar arrangement; secondly, the author gave a description of the preparation before interpretation, such as the list of vocabulary, including the terms particularly in the field, the topics of the lectures, the background of the speaker and the participants, the communication with the speaker before the task. Next, the author discusses and analyzes the mistakes and their causes in practice by comparing between the versions before and after class interpretation, and tries to find out better ways to solve these problems that we will improve the quality of interpretation. In the end, the author suggestes some ways for other interpretation learners and hopes that they will help them to deliver a successful interpretation.
