Culture is the sediment of history,comparison as a mirror which reflects eachother.Based on the perspective of traditional warrior spirit,this thesis describes therepresentative people and spirit in details,and contrast the emergence,developmentand the influence in the social history between Chinese chivalrous spirit andJapabese bushido.In Chinese history there is a group of people who have same personalities,suchas permanent loyalty,promoting justice,boldness and uninhibited mind,and thisgroup of people is chivalrous swordsman.They came from the separation of civil andmilitary officials in the Spring and Autumn Period,so most of them are staunch withmoral integrity and have consummate fighting skills.In the history of Japan,such agroup of famous, brave and loyal people also exist,and they are Japanesesamurai.They are brave and skillful in battle,because they are the armed forces todefend manor at first.Chivalrous swordsman and samurai are the representatives of warrior spirit inthese two countries.Chivalrous spirit and bushido appeared and developed graduallyin different countries and different historical background,so both of them are themost distinctive cultural thoughts.Making a comparative study about the culturalroots of thoughts is beneficial to deepen the understanding of the ethniccharacteristics of both sides.For this,expecting to get reference,make progresstogether.At first,this thesis discusses the appearance,development and social statusbetween the chivalrous swordsman and samurai,and then compares the similaritiesand differences between them.Secondly,the thesis makes a comparative analysis ofchivalrous spirit and bushido which is the impact of the behavior.It concludes thatthe main ideas and the thoughts originated from which cultural theory betweenthem.It draw a conclusion that the most important thing is‘justice’for chivalrousswordsman,while the most important thing is‘loyalty’for samurai.Finally,analyze what role chivalrous spirit and bushido acted in the process of social history,as wellas analyze the influences to the contemporary society.
