From the Republic of China to the initial stage resistance against aggression, the famous century-old schools in Changsha set up, developed and gradually promoted the emergence and development of modern education in Changsha, which is an important component of the development of education in Changsha. And in this period, the traditional Huxiang Culture such as patriotic loyalty, statecraft and inclusiveness gradually completed its transition to modern Huxiang Culture, and its culture essence——patriotic, statecraft, novelty, and inclusiveness continued to promote the development of the famous century-old schools in Changsha. The relationship of Huxiang Culture and the development of the famous century-old schools in Changsha is a benign interaction. They interpenetrate, influence and promote each other’s development, and further stimulate the development of cultural career in Hunan.This paper is divided into five sections. Huxiang Culture and the development of the famous century-old schools in Changsha are studied.The first chapter reviews the overview of the modern transformation of Huxiang Culture and the development of the famous century-old schools in Changsha. Since the beginning of Chu Culture, Huxiang Culture still flourishes after a millennium and completed its modern transformation during the period of the reform movement of1898. Huxiang Culture continued to promote the development of modern education career in various fields in Hunan, especially in the field of education. The famous century-old schools in Changsha set up in the historical conditions of "New Deal", national capitalist economic development and the thoughts of saving the nation by education in late Qing Dynasty. And thus, they started to develop education and reserve talents.The second chapter explains the promotion of educators’idea with the effect of Huxiang Culture. Huxiang Culture, characterized by patriotism, statecraft and novelty, enhanced the educational philosophy to salvation, pragmatism and open innovation.The third chapter analyzes how Huxiang Culture stimulated the educational reform of the famous century-old schools in Changsha. Through improving management system, hiring good teachers and launching educational reform, modern educators in Changsha practice the spirit of statecraft and novelty of Huxiang Culture, so as to lay a solid foundation for the development of the famous century-old schools.The fourth chapter describes the humanistic influence Huxiang Culture has on the educators in famous schools in Changsha. Under the humanistic influence, the educators work hard to educate people and reserve talents; meanwhile the educators pass the humanistic spirit of Huxiang Culture to their students, and the students continue to flourish Huxiang culture in various fields of the country.The fifth chapter discusses the evaluation of Huxiang Culture and the development of the famous century-old schools. The development of the famous century-old schools in Changsha is based on the transmission of Huxiang Culture, and the development of the famous century-old schools in Changsha is also an excellent carrier of the transmission of Huxiang Culture. The combination becomes a positive interaction, and they improve each other’s development, and jointly promote the development of the culture career of Hunan.
