Objects:With the developing of China’s economic reformation and informationglobalization, college students’ attitudes towards sexuality became more and more openwhich leads to high rates of STIs and unexpected pregnancy among college students.Psychosexual health, including sexual cognations and sexual attitudes can predict sexualbehaviors effectively. As family is the first environment for individuals’ socialization,parental rearing styles and parental behaviors affect college students’ psychosexualhealth deeply. The aim of this research is to study parental rearing styles and parentalbehaviors, college students’ psychosexual health and the relationship of both parts toclarify the interactions between parental rearing styles, parental behaviors and collegestudents’ psychosexual health and to provide scientific evidences for college students’psychosexuality education.Methods: Appling Psychosexual Health Questionnaire and Short-Egma Minnen avBardndosna Uppforstran Chinese edition (s-EMBU-c) to investigate the relationshipbetween parental rearing styles, parental behaviors and college students’ psychosexualhealth. In this study,300college students of different majors from2universities inDalian City were randomly chosen as subjects to complete questionnaires. ApplingSPSS to analyze dates and results. In addition, parental behavior questionnaire weredeveloped to investigate the relationship between parental behaviors such ascommunication about sex between parents and children, parental monitoring, andparental sexual role models and college students’ psychosexual health.Results:1. Gender differences exist in college students’ psychosexual health(t=3.58p<0.01);2.The rejection and the overprotection of parental rearing styles arerelated to college students’ psychosexual health scores positively (r=0.47,r=0.48;r=0.36.r=0.22p<0.01). The warmth of parental rearing styles is related to collegestudents’ psychosexual health scores negatively (r=–0.21; r=–0.32p<0.01);3.The maternal rejection, the paternal rejection can predict college students’ psychosexualhealth scores. The maternal rejection, the paternal overprotection can predict collegestudents’ sexual cognition scores. The maternal rejection, the paternal rejection, and thematernal warmth can predict college students’ sexual attitudes scores;4.Parentalbehaviors have significant influences on college students’ psychosexual health. Underthe context of parental monitoring, the degree of college students perceived parentalapproval on sexual behaviors has significant influence on college students’psychosexual health (F=16.25p<0.01), specifically the psychosexual health scores ofthose who perceived approval of parental agreement on sexual behaviors aresignificantly higher than the scores of those perceived parental forbidding or neutral onsexual behaviors.5. Under the context of parental sexual role models, the patterns ofparents as couple has significantly influence on college students’ psychosexual health(F=5.39p<0.01). Specifically, the scores of those believed the patterns of parents ascouple affect themselves in psychosexual health questionnaire are significantly lowerthan those who believed otherwise. The consistency of between parental behaviors andthe parent requirements for college students about the interactions with opposite genderhas significant influence on college students’ sexual cognitions (F=6.45p<0.01),specifically, the scores of those believed the consistency in psychosexual healthquestionnaire are significantly lower than those who believed otherwise.Conclusions:1. Parental rearing styles have significant influences on collegestudents’ psychosexual health. Specifically, parental rejection and overprotective stylesaffect college students’ psychosexual health negatively while parental warmth styleaffect college students’ psychosexual health positively;2. parental behaviors havesignificant influences on college students’ psychosexual health. Specifically, parentalmonitoring and parental sex role models affect college students’ psychosexual health.
