In recent years, the rapid development of the mass media has dramatically changed people’s lives. However, the media causes a lot of problems including vulgarization. Driven by economic interests, some media produces and sales low-grade cultural products regardless of social effect. Some media caters to low tastes with absurd and vulgar content in the name of entertainment. Some media merely pure sensationalism, keen on hearsay evidence and irresponsibly spread "Gossip anecdotes." Youth are in the growth and development period, they have broad interests, strong curiosity and thirst for knowledge, so they are extremely easily become "prisoner" of mass media.But they have poor self-control ability, non-ability to analyze and identify and rebellious Thus, they are more susceptible to the influence of mass media. Mass media not only enriches the spiritual life of youth, but also makes the youth imperceptibly accept the conveyed values. Mass media vulgarization produces negative influence on youth values.This paper, according to the manifestations of mass media vulgarization, analyzes the reasons of vulgarization, combining with adolescent special physiological psychology, explains the influence of mass media vulgarization on youth values, and proposes the countermeasures to minimize the influence of mass media vulgarization on youth values.Papers are discussed from three parts:Part I:Introduce the mass media vulgarization. This part gives the definition of the mass media, briefly introduces the features and functions of mass media. Then shows the manifestations of vulgarization from the six aspects of the mass media vulgarization, and finally explains five reasons of mass media vulgarization.Part II:Analyze the influence of mass media vulgarization on youth values. This part analyzes vulgarization of mass media on youth life values, moral values, consumption values, aesthetic values and historical values, providing the basis for the third part.Part III:Propose the countermeasures to minimize the influence of mass media vulgarization on youth values. Based on the previous sections, this part proposes a targeted, practical coping strategies from national, media, schools, families and youth, promoting the healthy growth of youth.
