He Zhen was one of the most radical feminists in the modern history of China.She opposed the traditional outlook on women and the marriage system of feudalsociety. She exposed the hypocrisy of Western women’s franchise and freedom. Inorder to change the social status that women were inferior to men and to establish themarriage system based on equality and freedom, she advocated that the male’sprivileges must be cancelled. She established a feminist organization for the purpose ofrestoring the rights of women. She launched a newspaper named Tianyi to promote herwomen’s liberation thoughts. She called for freedom and equality between men andwomen. She advocated gender revolution even with fierce words, as "women’srevenge", to arouse public concern on women’s groups. As He Zhen is China’s earliestpioneer to advocate women’s liberation, we need to pay more attention to her feministthoughts. This article makes a simple introduction about He Zhen’s feminist thoughtswith the help of the collection of her own words and the arrangement of the previousrelated research results. He Zhen’s attention to the situation of women and for women’sliberation propaganda is worth praising.Her viewpoints toward women’s emancipationis distinct and profound.She plays an important role in the modern history of Chinesewomen.
