Although the fourth generation(4G) mobile communication system has been deployed,GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication) is always bearing the weight of the world’sbiggest Mobile users, voice and media traffic is still part of the most closely contactcommunication in GSM system. According to statistics, seventy percent of mobile data trafficoccurred indoor, and mainly comes from the airport, station, office, family and other hot spots.Femto introduces a new solution for indoor coverage. Since the users in GSM network isnumerous, it’s conform to the development trend of mobile communication network flat byintroducing Femto in GSM access network.Operators of telecommunications equipment need high reliability requirements since theGSM business is still existed as the main source of business operators. In order to guaranteethe security, equipment manufacturers always need to adopt certain redundancy backupstrategy. Based on this purpose, this essay does some studies and analyses on the redundancybackup of code conversion and rate adaptation module in GSM Femto gateway. Codeconversion and rate adaptation module designed in this paper running on DSP ATCA-9100blade, provideing the function of rate compression and adaptation in the voice business. TheATCA-9100Media Resource Module blade which offers high density multi-core digital signalprocessing for media processing applications that are needed on network elements such asmedia gateways. In order to ensure the GSM gateway system work normally, this essay sharesthe handover between two ATCA-9100module to ensure that when the master boardATCA-9100is out of work, the prepared plate will take the place of master without affectingthe normal voice and media traffic.Femto architecture based on the ATCA platform, hasrealized the GSM gateway of signal processing, data conversion, etc.Equipment developed byby the project has been widely used in the equipment manufacturers and operators.
