With the development of cable television network infrastructure construction and the improvement of the business structure complexity, network scale is continuously expanding. The traditional manual management can not make quick and accurate response to emergencies in the network, thus reducing the user’s satisfaction.For the needs of cable television network management, GIS system-oriented cable television network management is built, under the support of GIS system the cable television network equipment resources is monitored and managed in order to accurately and efficiently locate the cable network failures and improve service quality. Therefore, the study on this subject has practical significance.GIS system-oriented cable television network management was put forward and designed on the basis of the analysis and comparison of the traditional GIS technology in order to meet the demand of high-speed browsing GIS system picture information and customize the background map according to users’ needs. For this reason, this paper designed and realized map tiles generating algorithm and stitching algorithm.According to the level map tiles generating algorithm can cut the configured specific geographical range map into the number of rows and columns of tiles, which are stored in the directory system according to a certain naming conventions and organization mode.While stitching algorithm can display the pre-generated a number of different combinations of tiles in different grades and present a seamless map in the client.In the Flex client configuration interface users could select the desired layers according to their own needs, then the picture generating background is called through Web Service to cut the map in accordance with the map tiles generating algorithm, at the same time,generated massive tile is effectively organized and managed according to the map grade, last the map tiles uploaded to the service side is stitched according to stitching algorithm into the slice map application prototype in WebGIS client. In addition, the article also designed and implemented GIS system client-oriented cable television network management, which supported dragging and dropping, map zoom, Hawkeye, coordinate positioning, screenshot, adding markers and lines which are conducive to the cable television network management, and supported for cable television network equipment monitoring and management.The system is also able to support secondary development.The system has been successfully applied in the Shenyang Media Network Limited company’s network resource management. The GIS system has a character of intuitive, friendly graphical user interface and easy operation.
