As a first transfer switch, the receiver protector plays an importantrole in radar and directly relates to the performance of radar. Comparedto active device, passive receiver protector is widely used in varies newpattern radars in domestic as a result of the irreplaceable capability.The subject comes from research institute some of Weapon Group with therequests of VE4150A Ku band wide passive receiver protector. This paperis summarized the development of VE4150A’s design.Based on the CST simulation and practice calculative correcting, a TRLstructure contained a TR tube made from two electrodes charge gap and afirst stair passive limitr is used in developing process of VE4150A passivereceiver protector. The medium window of TRL tube is made by sapphire, whichhas higher rigidity and better hermetic jointing and electrical capabilitythan that of low loss glass and ceramic95. The capacitance changed diodewith a smaller Rf is encapsulated by ceramic, so that the signal loss wouldnot be great due to the larger insulation degree of diode. By a tune polein diameter1.6mm, the series resistance of capacitance changed diode willbe reduced, and the insulation degree of limitr will be enhanced. Initialelectrons are provided by gaseous tritium which is filled in cavity.Compared to tritium-titanium target that is cased unsuitability, gaseoustritium is better in the lager energy of initial electrons provided andlower fire power of the tube. At the same time, mixed with inert gas willeffectively reduce peak value seep power of VE4150A. By the method of copperelectroplate oxygenated, the spoilage by vapor on electrodes will bereduced, and the tube’s life will be increased.With above-mentioned improvements, the eligible VE4150A receiverprotector has been designed, and the parameter standards of which are asfollow: frequency band wide≥7%, voltage standing wave ratio≤1.35,insert loss≤1.2, extent resuming time≤2.0μs, peak value seep power ≤60mW, evenness seep power≤10mW, working life≥1000h.
