The Research of Trust Evaluation in E-Commerce and Peer-to-Peer Networks

E-Commerce is the informationalized and networked form of traditional business, and the way people trade and do some related service activities through electronic transactions. E-Commerce develops quickly with the rapid development of the Internet, which brings great convenience to modern people’s lives. Thus, people can buy at home without having to go out. However, there exist some considerable security risks and threats in e-Commerce, especially in C2C e-Commerce, such as the trust issues caused by the information asymmetry and anonymity of transaction parties.Peer-to-Peer Network uses point to point communications technology, and each participant has the same capacity. It is a reliable network system without a central server for exchanging information. In P2P network, users can communicate directly, share resources, do distributed computing and so on. P2P network has great openness and scalability, and nodes in the network can be all over the internet, which also brings monitoring problems to the administrators of P2P network. Thus, free-riding unreliable services are prevalent in P2P network today. Therefore, it is necessary to add some appropriate security mechanisms inP2P network for healthy development.As the premise and foundation of network security, trust evaluation establishes a relatively flexible safety measure mechanism through the measurement and evaluation of trust relationship between the nodes. At present, the trust evaluation has become a hotspot in network security. This paper, using trust evaluation, has done some researches which focus on the security issues in P2P network and e-Commerce. The main work of this paper is as follows:At first, in C2C e-Commerce, a reputation-based trust mechanism is proposed, which is based on the trust of trading participants, to distinguish the dishonest individuals. Considering the impact factors of the trust evaluation, two different mechanisms, the time window and trade window, are used to select the evaluations that involved in the calculation, and customers’ own trust is considered as well. Finally, the effectiveness and efficiency of the modal are proved by theoretical analysis and simulation. The results show that the proposed model can be applied to the C2C e-commerce systems effectively. Secondly, in P2P network, a reputation based incentive model is proposed, which is based on free-riding problem. Nodes’ reputation is computed by observing their activities like continuous downloading, sharing, and the node’s effect to the P2P network is also been considered. Node’s reputation is used as the utility function of incentive mechanism. What’s more, the network status is divided into two levels: System Stable and System Warning according to the ratio of free-riding nodes, and different strategies are used in different system level. This incentive mechanism will change the behavior of free-riding nodes when the network level is System Warning, and control the radio of free-riding nodes to keep the P2P network stable and efficient.
