Research on the Warehouse Slotting Optimization

With the rapid development of the social economy, automated warehouse has been more and more used. It is not only an important part of the modern logistics system, but also is the main storage form of supporting the production line in modern manufacturing. Most warehouse still use habits and past experience to place goods, so it wastes time and leads the low efficiency. Slotting optimization is the key to improve the overall level of warehouse operations, the reasonable slotting optimization plays an important role in reducing unwanted consumption, shortening order fulfillment time, improving work efficiency, reducing storage costs, etc.This paper did further research on optimizing cargo space of an automotive manufacturing company’s auto parts warehouse, some results are as follows:Firstly, Because the warehouse’s goods are stored centrally on a roadway, the order’s fulfillment time is delayed, this paper proposed the solution of storing goods in different roadways.Secondly, this paper established the optimized model of improving the efficiency of ex warehouse, balancing the workload of each roadway and guaranteeing the stability of shelves.Thirdly, this paper choosed parallel selection genetic algorithm to solve the model.Finally, this paper implemented example simulation on the model, simulation results showed that the model was practical and effective, and algorithm ran stably.
