With the development of economy and the progress of society, human beings areincreasingly facing serious ecological problems: global warming, the extinction of species, resource shortage, environmental pollution and so on. When these problems affect thedevelopment of economy, even threaten the survival of the human, people begin to rethinktheir relationship with nature, and reflect on their own behavior. They want to find theapproach that meets the development of economy and society without destroying theecological balance, so that the human can live in harmony with nature. Ecological economy, the new mode of development of economy, provides people with one way to enable them toobtain the economic and ecological benefits. In the process of studying the ecological economy, more and more scholars begin to lookfor theoretical guidance in the Marxism and study the classics of Marxism to provide the goodpolicy for the development of ecological economy. This thesis studies the Marxist ecologicaleconomic thought, not only about those from Marx and Engels, but those from the WesternMarxism schools as well as the inheritance and development the Marxists in our country havedone for them. With the Marxist ecological economy thought as the guidance, combined withthe status quo of China’s construction of the ecological economy, it points out the problemsexisting in it including four aspects: the understanding of the ecological economy, ecologicaltechnology, consumer habits and legal construction and proposes the correspondingcountermeasures and suggestions.The18th National Congress of the CPC points out that we should vigorously promotethe construction of ecological civilization, which must be implemented into the politics, economy, culture, society, and other aspects. In order to complete the building of amoderately prosperous society in all respects in the new period, China needs to safeguard thesustained and sound development of the economy, and vigorously promote the construction ofecological economy, which requires, under the guidance of Marxist ecological economicthought, to continuously push forward the pace of construction of ecological civilizationtoward the harmonious socialist society.
