In the background of rapidly advancing urbanization, the planned figures for the land use are getting increasingly tense. We must use the land economically and intensively in order to meet the growing demand for the construction land. Intensive utilization of land is the radical method to solve land supply and demand contradictions. The"1+4" group is the metropolitan area of Shijiazhuang in the future development. To evaluate the intensive use of construction land in the "1+4" group is helpful to get a good grip on the actual usage of construction land. What’s more, it is more convenient to manage the construction land scientifically and use it rationally to improve the land use efficiency and promote the sustainable use of the regional construction land.The comprehensive and quantitative evaluation of the intensive use of construction land in the "1+4" group in Shijiazhuang are based on the related theoretical research of the construction land intensive use combined with the land statistical data and the economic and social data. Extract the main influence factors of the construction land intensive use from2002to2008using global principal component analysis which can be used to simplify multidimensional data by constructing the evaluation index system of the construction land intensive use. Evaluate the changes of the pros and cons of the main influence factors and the overall level of intensive use to explain the results with the systemic, integrated and intuitive graph based on the full array polygon graphic method (FPPS). At the same time put forward countermeasures and suggestions that improve the construction land intensive use.The results of construction land intensive use of "1+4"group in Shijiazhuang can demonstrate the following five points.(1) The differences of construction land expansion are as follows:First, the most intense expansion of construction land is from2005to2006as far as time is concerned. Second, the land type of the most violent expansion is an independent industrial land. Third, the most violent construction land expansion region is the city center, followed by Luquan, next zhengding and Gaocheng, last Luancheng.(2) The main influence factors of construction land intensive use include the levels of construction land input and output, the utilization power of construction land, the quality of the environment of construction land, the capacity for sustainable development of construction land, the infrastructure efficiency of construction land and so on.(3) The advantage influence factors of construction land intensive use are mainly as follows:First, the advantage influence factor of the city center is the level of input and output. Second, the advantage influence factor of Zhengding has changed from the utilization power of construction land to the infrastructure efficiency of construction land. Third, the advantage influence factor of Luancheng is the quality of the environment of construction land. Fourth, the advantage influence factor of Gaocheng has converted from the utilization power of construction land to the relative coordinated development of the five factors. Finally, there is no dominant advantage influence factor in Luquan.(4) The trends of the changes on the construction land intensive use are as follows: The overall level of the intensive use showed fluctuant rise from2002to2008. The growth rates of the five regional intensive use were large in2007. Additionally, in2003the level of intensive use in Gaocheng and Zhengding grew rapidly. In2005the level of intensive use in Luancheng had a larger increase compared to other cities.(5) The space differences of the construction land intensive use are divided into three levels in the "1+4" group. Among them, I level is high intensive use including the city center. II level is medium intensive use including Zhengding Luancheng and Gaocheng. Ⅲlevel is low intensive use including Luquan.
