Endogenous Driving Mechanism of the Industrial Upgrading:A Multi-case Study Based on Innovative Enterprises

Relative to the problems of the simple structural combination during the process of industrial structure upgrading, industrial innovation upgrading pay more attention to the upgrade the core technology research and development to enhance the capability of independent innovation-based, and fundamentally achieve industrial upgrading. Based on the traditional industry life cycle theory, different industries in different stages of development will be faced with different upgrade bottleneck. In the nascent stage of industry life cycle, emerging industries are mainly facing the problem of low industrialization caused by lack of resources. As focusing on the industrial scale, some in the Growth stage of industry life cycle prone to "big but not strong" issues, such as our typical equipment manufacturing. In the further process of industrial upgrading, some maturity traditional industries will face the main problem of core technologies development and upgrading, such as China’s traditional home appliance industry. Some of the bottleneck has already become a major obstacle to further industrial development.With outstanding independent innovation capability, Innovative enterprise as prominent type of business played a unique role in leading industrial upgrading. Based on the depth excavation of continuous innovation’s nature, we take entrepreneurship, networking capabilities, organizational learning as the core constitution of an innovation-oriented enterprises to integrate concepts. As innovative enterprises can break through the industrial upgrading bottleneck in the special stage of industry evolution, we take this as an entry point to explore the innovative enterprises to lead the process of industrial upgrading, innovation-driven mechanism for induction of general rules of formation and evolution by means of multiple case studies.Finally we found entrepreneurship, organizational learning, and network ability are the basic engine of sustainable innovation and the growth of innovative company. These three driving factors will evaluate into new feature by the interaction to breakthrough industrial upgrading bottleneck. Specifically, the entrepreneurship spread into the whole industry and refectories the existing industrial chain value-added model to break through the bottleneck of traditional industries upgrading. The issue of low industrialization can be solved through the industrial networks, which strengthen the contact of related industries through the terminal of technology integration products. The organizational learning which extended to the level of industrial cluster can break through the big but not strong industrial upgrading bottlenecks.
