The Study of Service-oriented Manufacturing Agility and Application Based Flexibility

Nowadays, manufacturing enterprises’ competition is just like ones devour the small, fast fish eat theslow. The business model gradually changes from traditional mass production to small batch productionand customized products patterns. This change means make significant adjustment of enterprise’ corecompetitive strategy, in other words enterprise will pay more attention on service and the reaction time.With the shift in the focus of competition, the entire operation process requires not only enhance the levelof technology management from R&D, manufacturing, marketing and after-sales service, but also needto establish a rational organizational mechanism to play with technology to meet changing marketdemand quickly.In this paper, we choose service-oriented manufacturing enterprise agility as research object. Fistpointed out the purpose and significant of this research, and summarized service-oriented manufacturingenterprise research situation both at home and abroad, agile model and mechanisms of manufacturingenterprise, and flexibility application in manufacturing enterprise. Then described the theory ofservice-oriented manufacturing enterprise agility, introduced its general concept, operation mode andimplementation system, figured out different characteristics between service-oriented manufacturingenterprise and traditional enterprise from value-added, operation, organizational models and operationmodes. Then explained enterprise agility was a kind of ability that can quick response to the rapidlychanging and uncertain environment, at the same time described the core idea of enterprise agility in fiveaspect: time-based competition, service quality, customer satisfaction, low-cost and informationcollection. Beside core idea of enterprise agility, the application of enterprise agility needs anther fourmodes, mechanisms, and resource flexibility. Next chapter firstly analyzed four agility elements ofservice-oriented manufacturing. They were service manufacturing network, mass customization mode,information integration platform and customer involved production process. Then we make a theoreticalargument about feasibility of using flexibility to study enterprise agility. As the condition that differentresource allocation brings different flexibility level, we make an analysis about reasonable resourceallocation. Finally we established flexibility exponential and contribution function model to quantitativestudy how various elements influence enterprise agility. Considering practical application, we establishedagility resource investment decision model to find the best flexibility level in the condition of fixedinvestment.
